Helping congregations engage and support their older members and caregivers

Seabury Resources for Aging has been designated the organization to provide leadership and coordination of aging services in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington. Seabury's outreach to congregations is coordinated through the Congregational Resources program, which works in partnership with all congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of Washington and the United Church of Christ Potomac Association to address the issues of aging and develop ministries for, with, and by older adults.

How Seabury Supports Congregations:

  • Acts as a resource for church leaders needing information about services and programs for older adults and caregivers.
  • Sponsors educational events on topics related to aging.
  • Partners with congregations to design or revise ministries by and for older adults.
  • Provides speakers for Adult Forums, "mission moments," and coffee hour discussions.
  • Exhibits at outreach and wellness fairs.

How Congregations Can Support Seabury:

  • Share information about our services and programs with your congregation.
  • Volunteer for a day of service. Check out these opportunities.
  • Conduct a special collection of materials or funds to benefit our work with older adults.
  • Invite Seabury staff to speak on a topic of interest to your congregation. Email us or call (202) 414-6316.
  • Encourage members to support Seabury through workplace giving campaigns.
